Okay, so I made this empire waist dress that I'm really proud of. I didn't use a pattern, just sort of figured things out as I went along...mainly because all maternity patterns seem to be quite matronly. That being said, I did cut the top portion a little too short (for my tastes [read: boobies]) and I made the skirt a bit too long (again, for my tastes [read: my short ass]).

Here's a crappy camera phone shot of the dress:

...it's really a lot cuter on. The bulky part right under the bust are ties that wrap around front and tie in back, thus accentuating my baby belly. It's not bulky when it's on me. I plan on doing a french cuff on the sleeves using the flowered fabric.

Here's where my dilemma lies, I'd rather shorten it from the waistline rather than the hem. I tried messing with it today, but I guess I'm just not that talented to figure out how to do it from there. I can take out the seam, though I did already trim it, so there's not much fabric on the top to resew. Do I just need to resew the seam or is there some super awesome trick way to take up the hem from the waist that I don't know about?

Any help would be great! Thanks!
