A (very wonderful and generous Tongue) friend and myself are going to see Wicked in London next Saturday for her bithday. This little figure is part of her birthday gift (being a poor university student, I'm having to raid my stash and go handmade this year Cheesy). She's a little messy up close, please excuse the fluff! I was out of sand paper Roll Eyes

I used Corrie's clay bride as inspiration, thank you.

I'm in love.

And if you aren't already, you'll be in love with WICKED after you see it.

Great job!  I love how you did the hair, with the locks falling open in a couple of places to reveal the skin; it provides a nice sense of movement to this whimisical little piece.  And it's a terrific adaptation of the wedding cake figure, and thanks for that link, too: I think I'm going to ask my neighbors who are getting married in September if they'd be interested in something like that, with a matching groom, for their cake -- I think I could actually manage to sculpt that style of a figure!

But I must wag my finger at you and tell you not to apologize or feel you have to make excuses for giving handmade gifts.  I am well past my poor student days and still give handmade presents pretty much exclusively.  Because they are always from the heart they are usually even more appreciated.  (Only once have I had someone not like a gift I made.  She didn't say anything but I could tell, so I asked and, thankfully, she answered honestly.  At the time I didn't know her taste and what I made was definitely not her style!)  And the people who don't appreciate at least the consideration, if not the result, of your work, well, they're probably not worth the effort in the first place.

Plus, what you make is unique and most often specific to the recipient.  In this case, your dear friend will have a one-of-a-kind reminder of both her special birthday excursion and of you.

Enjoy the show!
