My husband and I just got a handed down patio set and two of the slings on the sling chairs are ripped.  Searching on line only found $60 replacement slings--too much.  Has anyone replaced a sling with something from the fabric store?

These chairs have aluminum frames and the slings are held in place with a spline.

can you post a pic?

Seems like you could use the original sling for the pattern and go to your local Walmart or other place that sells cheap fabric or has fabric on sale and buy some good canvas or duck material.
another good option would be painters cloths. We found painters cloths for 12 bucks when we were creating the inner walls of our yurt! Great price!  The store was Harbor Freight. They had a store in Cinci where we lived, but they also have a catolog and a web site.

you could paint the painter's cloths prior to putting them in the sling.

be sure to post pics if you can!
