I just created a painting tonight using my usual el cheapo acrylics. One spot of the painting has a thick dab of paint on it (did this on purpose). Now just an hour later, it seems to have dried but looks like it is cracking! Is this because the room temperature is too cold (a/c is on)? Is there a way to fix this relatively easily? As you may have noticed, I'm still pretty much a novice painter. Advice please!

Shocked Yes cold temp makes your paint crack, only way to fix it is to fill the crack with more acrylic paint when its fully dry, theres a technique to make cracks in your painting by putting fresh paint on canvas or bored and let it dry infrunt of a cold air conditioner or place in freezer.

some people paint something gold for example , then once its dryed they put a thick coat of paint over it, freeze then you can see the gold paint in between the cracks. Wink

Illustrations, paintings and other knick knacks.

Party time all the time.

That sounds cute but it's not what I was going for on this particular piece Smiley Thanks for the info though. In a day or so, after it is fully dry, I'll try to fill in that crack with more paint. It isn't a huge crack, and it really isn't a huge blob of paint, but I don't like it especially as I intend to give this painting away. I want it to be just right.

Thanks again!
