Thanks for the inspiration and tutorial! Making a purse has been on my to-do list forever and your tutorial popped up at exactly the right moment. I just finished sewing this fancy-shmancy top and had about a half yard of scraps leftover and nothing in my closet to match the blouse. Hence, I made a little clutch to match and use up the rest of my fabric and get my butt in gear for making more purses. Here's what I ended up with:

I made it a wee smaller; you can tell because I can only fit 2 pine cones in there!  Wink Also skipped a magnetic snap or closure of any kind because I didn't have any and will barely get to use this purse. Lessons learned: pleats are time consuming (at least for newbies) and require attention to detail, don't hem the top seams before you sew up the sides and bottoms (otherwise you'll get ugly bunched seams staring at you every time you reach into your purse), and 2 layers of stiff interfacing for the outer "handles" was a great idea, too.

Thanks again Underhill!

Pretty Clutch! I think I want to make mine out of black satin-y type of stuff. With a pretty button so it will match my fancy outfits. Yay!
