My friends and I are staying in one of the hotels at Dragon Con this year, so we're all trying to make costumes. (Dragon Con is a huuuuuge comic/anime/sci-fi/fantasy/everything nerdy convention in Atlanta)

I decided I would be San from Princess Mononoke since it's one of my favorite movies evarrr. :'D My mask is almost done. I've still got to make the ears, paint a little more, and find some black mesh to put in the eye and mouth holes. But other than that I think it's looking really good.

Here are some reference pics--->

And here's my interpretation--->

The mask is made from paper mache, and I got the fur from etsy. I have enough left to make the cape too! The face is a little lumpy and weird in some places, and I wish I had made the mouth hole more round, but oh well. (: I hope that it is at least recognizable!

I will update when I get more of my costume finished. :'D

Got the ears on. :'D Is it just me, or does it look less souless and frightening with the ears on?

Hayao Miyazaki is my life.

I loved Princess Mononoke! I love that, rather than doing the customary wig and bloody makeup approach one might expect, you made the actual mask.

That's really flipping awesome! My old roommate wanted to be San for Anime Weekend Atlanta 2 years ago, but we never really got around to making our intended costumes.... so we just put on business suits and went at Turks from Final Fantasy 7.  Tongue

But your mask is awesome! Great work on the mouth and eye holes and the fur looks amazing. It's the best one I've see yet!  Grin
