this is my first post! so last weekend i decided i needed to clean up my craft "corner". i bought this desk at a thrift store for $20! it is in really good shape, but was a hot pink/orange/blue/black/white mess! i didn't sand it down, this was the first time i tried painting furniture and figured i'd just see what happened. I really like the way it turned out.

i painted the entire thing brown, then for the three drawers i used painter's tape to block off the boarder and then placed my stripes and painted, it took a few coats. I sealed it with an acrylic sealer (i dunno if that what you should use -but i did!)

sorry the pictures are a bit blurry, i used my camera phone to take them.
-also, i do plan on hanging all that crap up on the wall, but for the mean time - i laid it in the desk.

THANKS for looking!!!

Great job! The color combo is delicious.

I was off to save the world....until I was distracted by something shiny.

I have been LOOKING for a similar size/style desk at the thrift shop to do the same thing (and in the same colors too!).  Right now I have to haul my craft stuff out to the kitchen table whenever I want to do some work, so I don't get around to crafting nearly as often as I would like.

You did a great job.

the desk looks fab-o; nice work!
i'm going to be adopting an old desk in a couple weeks and i've heard it's not the prettiest thing, so i'm hoping to spruce it up a bit. did you do any sanding or anything kind of preparation to the desk before you painted? and what kind of paint did you use, by the way?
