i finally finished my version of the Hoover baby blanket from Knittyfor my cousin and his wife who are due next month. it took forever but i'm really happy with the result. it was hard to get good pictues of it on my carpet, it is actually rectangular not all wonky. i used 2 balls of pattons canadiania in oatmeal and 3 balls of pattons canadiana in winter white. i just think acrylic makes sense for a baby blanet.

here's the pattern http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATThoover.html

I like your colour choices!  Nice and neutral.  Is it double knit in the center panel?

really nice!  I was just looking at this pattern a few days ago, but the prospects of that double knit center panel frightened me away and I started another Big Bad Baby Blanket instead.

yup the middle section is double knit so it took so long! i started in october although i had times where i didnt work on it, but it would take 20 minutes to do 1 row! i'm really happy with the results and happy with my colour choices. you can see how if you did it in baby green and yellow it wouldnt look as classy. i dont know if id knit it again though. it was pretty boring. by the time i was a 3rd finished i was ready to quit. at least with a baby blanket you have a deadline! otherwise this thing would never have gotten finished.
