So, er my name is Elli, I am from the Big Easy- New Orleans. I have been living in Austin since the Great Tide of 2005, but i haven't really set out to find those like minded souls that make life a little easier. It's a long story. Anywhoo, I am a crafting mad-woman. I love to make jewelry most of all-mixed media, dominoes, and lego's mostly-i also knit and sew a tiny bit. i guess a point is in order: are there any stitch and bitch groups or crafty circles i can join or would anyone like to start one?

i saw the previous post about Rio Rita<definitely going to check that out>

There are too many mediocre things in life, I will not be one of them.

Hey there lady!  So I've been in Austin for about 8 years now and I have to say I'm not really in touch with the crafting community either, but a great way to start would be to go to a little place on South Congress called Craft-O-Rama which offers classes on tons of stuff you'd be interested in.  I've been meaning to stop back by there myself and check into things, but I've been crazy busy lately.  There's a ton of classes I intend to sign up for when I get back into town, probably around mid-April.....anyway, I hope this gets you on your way!

I just posted a new thread about starting a little crafting group that meets weekly if either of you ladies are interested. Smiley

Don't take life too seriously. You won't survite it anyway.

I'm relatively new in town also (moved here by way of Santa Fe, NM in August of 2008). I didn't realize I could search for other crafty people on Craftster! I don't know too many people in town yet, but I'm hoping to change that!

Have you checked out the Rio Rita on Thursday nights? I was wondering what that was like. I was thinking about going there next Thursday (3/19/09). Any insight you can give me would be great.

(BTW, I mostly embroider, quilt, make papel picado and a bunch of other things.)

Maybe we can meet there and craft.

I've never been to Rio Rita, but I know at least one person who goes occasionally.

What I can tell you is that the 19th is probably not the best night to go because SXSW will trump everything else in town, and it's likely that things will be pretty low key, if anything's happening at all.

I'd just hate you to be disappointed.

Come to the Craftster party on the 20th instead!

Cool!  I made the Best of 2009 twice!   Check 'em out!
