Before & After...

Ok, so it's been like 4 months since I finished inking up this drum head...  member dip_n_dot asked me if they ended up getting played.  My, they have!   I wanted to post the change after being used ... the original post, followed by recent pics:

Hi everyone!!! First post!!

OK it's time to embark upon a series of creations.  My significant other is a drummer, and I'm visual-arts-inclined.... combine these things and VOILA! I'm inking the heads for his snare drums.  This one is 14" of graphic glory, (complete with pencil lines - oops!!), done with permanent black ink pens.

The other interesting side of this project is that my Drummer is not going to take it easy on these heads, and they're going to get really worn over time.  I think THIS development will be pretty nifty to see.  I just have to make sure I get sufficient photo documentation before they get beaten up.

Comments/Questions are WELCOME!!!

(the whole thing)

(another closeup) -- you can still kinda see the "Remo" brand which I'm trying to cover up

Here it is now:

I like how the centre looks kinda like the moon Smiley

Thanks for looking!

That is extraordinary! You should post "progress" pics as they get destroyed. Things do tend to look more interesting with time and wear.

What kind of pen did you use?

I plan on posting the wear and tear... this head will be used tomorrow nite, so we'll see how it looks afterwards!

What kind of pen did you use?

-- a combo of different sized Koh-i-noor tech pens and Sharpies
