this shirt is so amazing!! I am currently trying to disect the photo of the piece to compose a pattern, and am off to a decent start. Any and all help is appreciated.. One hesitation that I have is that I don't know if all of the red centre pieces are seperate and then joined, or joined as they are being made..  Undecided Thanks a bunch!!http://www.freepeople.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.detail/productID/9756481c-459a-4123-8c75-75f2f638b461/cmCategoryID/683d4023-53f5-4900-b5ce-ecf465df31a9

It's a nice shirt, but shouldn't this be in the discussion forum? Not completed projects?
Anyway, I think they're separate because the red part is knit and the center pieces are crocheted. Unless you mean the red in the center pieces, in which case they look like they were made in one piece.

I think they mean "knit" as in the bottom fabric is a stretchy knit fabric - not that it's knitted.  And it looks to me as though the red crochet motifs are made as you go.

That is a gorgeous top!  Everything on that site is always so nice.  I am definitely going to keep this in mind to make for the summer.  Does anyone have any idea what the motif stitch is?

Looks like a wide edging to me, attached vertically on the back and horizontally on the front, with smaller edgings for the borders and straps. There are lots of neat edgings online, try http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/edgings.php.
