I'm quite pleased actually Cheesy  I've been chronicling it on my deviantART, so instead of posting all the pics here in this thread, here are the links to check out the photos and any comments I might have had while spinning it.  I spun (and plyed) it on a student Ashford drop spindle.

Teaser:

If you're a DA user, don't be shy, please leave me a comment, criticism, tip, or suggestion over there if you'd like Smiley  I think it's a shame that the fiber arts section of DA gets so under-represented.

Yay for fellow dA artists! <3's~ I left a comment on one of the pics. ^^ You did an awsome job on your yarn and plying. Was it very difficult to ply with the drop spindle?

Thanks for the comments everybody!

I didn't find plying with the drop spindle to be that hard, I thought it was a bit easier than I'd expected.  My yarn snapped about 3 times while I figured it out but I'm not heartbroken since I kind of expected it to happen.  By the time I got to my second, smaller bit of yarn, I'd become quite comfortable with the technique.  I think my major problem had been that since I'm a very high-tension person, bits of my first single were WAY too thin, and they snapped easily while plying.  But after I got out of the 'super high tension' bit of my yarn it was smooth sailing!

I think the trick to drop spindle plying is putting your singles in mugs on the floor, and that those mugs stay pretty far apart from each other (I think I had them about a metre apart on the floor).
