i ordered some pre-made purse handles from Tallpoppycraft.com and I've been waiting for this weekend to make something. I bought some place mats from Pier One planning on making this bag. Didn't like how the handles looked with the material so I went through my stash and found other place mats I had bought forever go!! Matched it with some great $1 a yard fabric from W-mart. So here is my new 'wish it were spring' bag!!

And now I'm realizing that I was in such a hurry I didn't lay it out nice. The side of it isn't really that wonky.I've been obsessed with birds lately so I painted a drawing I did on the bottom  Grin I tried to put in a close up but craftster photo hosting won't accept any pic I take that is only the bird. I got frustrated so I stopped trying. Does anyone else have that problem? It accepts only some of your pics even though there is nothing different in file size or anything? I don't get it. Embarrassed Cry

I tried to get a good shot of the fabrics. I put buttons over the bottom of the handles in the front and finally tried out my buttonhole foot! Amazing invention!!! The place mat is the dark teal; it's kind of woven. The main part of the bag is a teal and aqua "danish" floral as the bf calls it.

Whatcha think?

I like the purse,
but i really love the bird.
Did you draw it yourself? and if so how did you get it to stay on the bag?

Very cute!  Smiley The bird is awesome! That is so cool that you drew that, all i can draw are stick figures Wink

Thanks both of you so much! My BF actually said something similar. He didn't realize I actually drew it myself until I said so. I think that's a good thing! Yes I doodled the bird. I drew it based on a picture of a robin redbreast I found. Then I just kinda stylized it. After wasting time playing with the stencil and adding leaves I painted it on with a mix of acrylic paints. The painting took 2 mins if even. Freezer paper is amazing  Grin And now I can have a little songbird with me!
