I don't currently have a newborn on hand Tongue but my friend is having one pretty soon and I promised her a layette. I can guess at the height/length but I need a general width of a wee newborn one.

If you have a newborn or one that's pretty close, can you wrap a tape measure around the little imp and let me know how wide one might be?

okay, I looked it up average waist for a newborn- 8.5 to 15" around, well yeah just make it somewhere around there I say, it really depends on how big the baby is born I guess!!!!

Undecided I don't have a newborn either but Ottobre Design has this pdf http://www.ottobredesign.com/en/print/pdf/size_charts2004.pdf on its site for free download and it has ALL mesurements from newborns upwards including waist..chest..inseams... etc based on height, for newborns, toddlers, children, etc.,

It's really handy (both in metric and inches) so i suggest you check it out.
Hope it helps!
Good Luck and happy sewing! Wink

Don't forget that big nappy bum. Or Gigantic nappy bum in the case of cloth nappies. (I will translate for you non-Aussies: nappy bum = diaper buns) Babies have big butts.

I just had a fairly good sized boy 3 weeks ago so I can help with this!!  He was 8lbs 13oz, 19.5 inches long.  His head circumference was 14.5 inches and his chest was 14 inches.  He def. has a larger head and chest than my daughter did.   (I now know the meaning of the term barrel chested...)

Let me know if you need more measurements.  I can give you his current ones if you want those.

We are in the process of switching over to cloth diapers.  Would love some advice, hint, tips.   Will swap for diapers!
