Hi everyone, I usually take forever to finish one dress but here is what i made and wore for this year's competition!

I started with a leotard base, then I sewed the floral front part on and then worked on the keyhole in the back (the keyhole took so long and so frustrating!!!) before adding the panne velvet neck line.

After that was the skirt then I cut out a few extra flowers from extra cloth from the floral one and sewed it on to make a bit of pattern. Sorry about the photos, the low quality one was taken with my webcam and the high quality one was a podium shot with everyone else in it lol.

That's gorgeous!  Great job, it looks really professional and I love the flowers you chose.

I'm also glad to see you won!  Congratulations!

So pretty!  My sisters and I used to watch the olympics and other figure skating competitions when we were younger...then dress up in pettiskirts and other such flounces and fluff, then go out in my dad's field where part of it would flood for the winter and skate around pretending to be all our favorite skaters  Cheesy  Ahh...memories!  Great job on yours, you look beautiful in it!

My doggie may look cute, but he's vicious!

I too am a figure skater and I have to say that you did a great job on the dress! It's about time I figured out how to make my own dresses... also congrats!

Thank you all! The poofyness was a bit of an experiment, I was having trouble deciding how to sew the skirt on since it was a georgette material and wouldn't stretch. So in the end I kinda overkilled the gathering and it went major poof! haha but i think its pretty cool anyways.

sk8ingpenguin I'm sure you have other dresses now so its quite easy to just copy the basic leotard off them, for an easier time than I had, I'd recommend using stretchy material for the skirt too... I did that a few years back and it was alot easier to sew!
