This is my first attempt at cables and I am extremely happy with the result, when I saw the owl hat I just had to make one (it was intended for a friend but I just can't part with it.)
(knit with Jo Sharp Classic Wool in Maple)

While this one was knit especially for a friend's birthday and is currently en route to him
(knit with Reynolds Odyssey Dark Grey Mix)

And the yarn for this scarf was gifted to me four years ago in the form of an extremely long scarf (it was beautiful but it hung below my knees when it was looped around my neck, and I'm about 5'7) I love the yarn so I undid it and found I had three skeins so I used two and knit this. (I had no idea until recently what kind of yarn this is... its Rowan Chunky Print, I think...)And while its still long, its not too long.

thanks for looking.

Beautiful work!  The cables show up especially well with that chartreuse yarn.

Everything looks really good! I love the first hat :3

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.

The northern downpour sends its love.

Thanks for your kind words everyone!
I found the Owl Cable Hat at http://www.ruthieknits.com/Site/Owl_Hat.html and I just shortened the pattern a bit...I based the length of my hat off another hat I made for myself.
