This is my first scarf.   My MIL just had open heart surgery before Christmas and requested a soft scarf to cover her scars- they really aren't bad- I think she just wanted a scarf!! haha.. anyway I used this pattern: http://members.aol.com/JSchlossma/ascarf.html  It turned out really nice- I had no idea you could make a cable in crochet!
The yarn is really soft so it's hard to see the cable.  It's much nicer in person.  Grin
