These Things So Sweet and Damaged....

Stripey minidresses make me feel mischievous. :]

2 medium men's button-down shorts + an orange doily + some iron-on's = one night of sewing fun.

I concocted this last night from two shirts I scored for $5. I originally planned the dress to be a bit simpler looks wise but I am not exactly a careful seamstress. The left hip of the dress looked awful! So instead of ripping seams and other tedious things I decided to cover the hip instead of actually fixing it.  Suddenly doilies and iron-on patches ran rampant! Much mre fun that way. :] so now I need opinions, is this ridiculous or actually authentically wear-able?

apologies for the photobooth photos. I just can't NOT play with my new macbook. >:]. Also note there are three little pleats on the right side of the front of the skirt. They are just spread flat from my posing. XP

the hip in question

I look horrid. But I like that patch.

and finally the folded up sleeves and a final patch. More butterflies.

Cant wait to hear the verdict. :]

Your lookin' really cute in your dress!  Wink We think it is totally wearable & quite hip, but the doily is throwing the 'look' off a bit. If you could remove the doily & replace it with a large pocket it would be a lot more stylish.

Thanks guyzoz. I must admit the doily is one of my favorite parts.... I really want to wear it to see my boyfriend tomorrow, but I'll be helping him move into his new place and it's a pretty short dress. It might not look too bad with leggings... but we'll see come tomorrow morning. :]

Also, I feel the need to warn that there is much more to come. I've now finished three dresses this week. But I figured Craftster could only stand one at a time. You know, don't want to bombard the place with my hasty stitches.

Sidenote: ooooh, a comment from violentjayne on one of my first not-half-bad dress attempts. Way to boost my ego girl. I love your stuff. :]
