this is a little book (about 3" by 9") i made for my boyfriend as a valentine, mostly collage from our adventures together and poems.  it's my first try at a flag book and first try at collage in a long time... but i think i'm hooked now! i especially liked working on all the little pieces and then trying to arrange them to work together.
the main poem inside is 'Prayer for Horizon" and also has some Wallace Stevens, ee cummings, and Mary Shelly (from Frankenstein Smiley)...

15 cards...

this is one of my favorite cards--the heart swings on the brad and has a message under

Oh, that is beautiful - that is the most lovely valentine I have ever seen.

It's funny isn't it...Frankenstein has some wonderful passages.  Which part of the book did you include?

thanks parisgirl,
i used the lines:
I try in vain to be persuaded that the pole is the seat of frost and desolation; it ever presents itself to my imagination as the region of beauty and delight.  There the sun is for ever visible; its broad disk just skirting the horizon, and diffusing a perpetual splendor.  There snow and frost are banished; and, sailing over a calm sea, we may be wafted to a land surpassing in wonders and in beauty every region hitherto discovered on the habitable globe What may not be expected in a country of eternal light?
Mary Shelly, Frankenstein (1818)

they are not in whole anywhere, but scattered here and there.  originally i wanted to do an all white and off white book, but colors crept in!  still an idea i'd like to do. thinking about all the magic of deep winter and north...

the only full poems are cummings "i love you much (most beautiful darling)"  written on the tiny back of a piece of paint sample and in a pocket and Gwyneth Lewis' "Prayer for Horizon."  the other words are tucked here and there.

Lovely passages and poetry.  I often insert meaningful quotations into my projects.  Sometimes I base projects around passages in the books I read.  To make something of meaning is powerful, and to have someone to appreciate it and understand is a rare blessing.

Happy Valentines day!
