glug, glug! this stretchy bracelet was designed to help me with my new year's resolution to remember to drink more water. it features faux pearl beads alongside 8 blue glass beads representing the number of glasses of water you're supposed to be drinking daily!

modelled after the weight watcher's bracelets that help you keep track of your points, this little number has a charm hanging from a lobster clasp that you can move from water droplet to water droplet, tracking how many glasses of water you're drinking each day. i've added a little flower spacer to it as well to help me remember to go outside and water my plants, too. it's possibly the most helpful piece of jewelry ever!

It's a cute bracelet and I love the idea behind it, but recent evidence suggest that the 8 glasses a day thing is a medical myth. The original study (published in the 30s) advocated 64 oz. of fluids a day, including fluids derived from fruits and vegetables. Water is just one of many ways to get the recommended amount of fluids for your body.
http://www.webmd.com/diet/guide/wonders-of-water offers some basic facts.

If water is your preferred method to get these needed fluids, then that is all well and good, just be sure to pay attention to how much your body specifically needs and go from there. You may need more than 8 glasses on some days and on other days less.

The bracelet is still a lovely reminder to keep hydrated, and actually prompted me to go get a drink. So good job on that one.

I just made a necklace with those same beads :DDD

Very cute idea and love the style and colors!  I drink about 4 bottles a day.. that's about.. 68oz.. that's about.. 8 8oz glasses.. so I'm good either way ;P

there is a similar bracelet out there for breastfeeding moms.
in the begining of BFing it becomes hard to remember how many minutes you fed the baby and on which side.
i remember thinking that was fabulous and clever.
but i had to pump rather, so it wasn't such a big deal for me.
For me i had to remember to pump 10 times a day-
so my method was to set out 10 pieces of candy on my pump first thing in the morning and eat one with each pumping.
HA HA-  i guess that wouldnt be a recommended method for a weight watcher.
The bracelet is fabulous.
and very lovely beads.

this is such an adorable and creative way to keep track of something! i love it, especially the way the droplet looks like it's falling into the glass Cheesy

now i'm trying to think of something i need to keep a track of so i can make something similar.. hmm...

we will arise from the bunkers,
by land, by sea, by dirigible
we'll leave our tracks untraceable now

yeah i actually keep hearing things to that effect recently, about how pretty much everything you drink, including soda, does hydrate you - but it's so bad for you health-wise to think hey i can drink 8 cups of coffee/soda/booze every day and that still counts, so i just stuck with good ol healthy water... the way i figure it i'm drinking almost zero glasses right now so any improvement on that is improvement all the same Smiley

lovin' hearing the feedback on this stuff - i actually had not ever heard anything about the breastfeeding thing before!
