I made this for a friend's shower.  The pattern was one that I purchased on-line and was mailed to me, but I've made a few changes to it.  Mainly adding a lot more padding and doing self-bias tape.

here it is propped over a upside down footstool - the closest approximation to a grocery cart that I had in the house Smiley

close up of the fabrics:

it has a couple of tabs for those plastic toy links, a velcro closing cup holder and a velcro pocket for a toy or snack

the inside before the elastic is strung through the casing - you can sort of see the giant buttonholes for the cart strap to go in:

I would recommend this as a project - it's a little more complicated than some, but the new moms seem to love these.

oooooh, I love the fabric!!! It's cute, but funky.

What pattern did you use?  I would love to make one for my baby niece

Thank you thank you Smiley

Lizlo - the pattern that I used was from Allison Ray at sew fun patterns - and I got it er..  7 years ago? and I've used it 3-4 times - I'm not sure if she still sells the patterns.

but there's a free one here:  http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/cart_cover.html

I wanted one of these so bad when my little guy was even littler, but never got off my butt to make one.  Your friend is going to LOVE it.
