Details of swap:

This swap will be a scavenger hunt with categories each participant must interpret and fulfill with items relating to yarn and yarn crafts, then send to her or his partner.

The idea came from a group I saw on ravelry.com, which led me to the blog for the "Knitter's Scavenger Hunt Swap." It has already started and, since it looked like so much fun, I decided to host one here on Craftster instead of waiting for the next one to start in April.

I looked through Craftster's swap archives and found there have been scavenger hunt swaps in the past, but this one is going to be a little bit different than those. It is themed and the scavenger part is a little different, too.

Categories (I'm using the same categories as the blog-version):

1) Something local
2) Something round
3) Something green
4) Something related to the letter 'T'
5) Something funny
6) Something hard
7) Sender's choice (make up a category for your item!)

I'm going to leave the category definitions up to you and your own interpretations. You may discuss them, but, ultimately, your intuition should be your guide.

The number of items sent and received should be no more and no less than the number of categories in the scavenger hunt. Exceptions are if the item representing a category is a pair or set of items, such as a pair of mittens or a set of stitch markers.

One item per category - no single item can do double-duty and count for two categories. However, if a particular item does work for two categories and having two of them would be pleasing to the recipient, then two may be sent. The exception to that would be if it's a pair of something where having only one of the pair would be useless. If it's a pair, the pair can only count for one category. For example, a pair of blue mittens cannot count for something blue and something that starts with the letter M. However, sending two blue mugs, one for the blue category and one for the letter M category, would be allowable.

The gift for at least one category must be a skein of yarn (quality, please, unless your partner says they love fun fur!).

Items can be bought or handmade. At least one category should be handmade.

At least four of the seven categories must have items relating to yarn and yarn crafts. Other goodies are welcome, but the bulk of your package should be yarnie goodness.

Budget: Shoot for $15 (+ shipping). Anything used from your stash would count towards the budget amount.

Please PM your partner and the organizer when you send out your package and when you receive it. Thanks!

It's going to be fun, maybe even a bit of a challenge, which I enjoy, and, yeah, yarn - you can't go wrong with that as a theme!

way to tempt me...
Lol - you know you want too......

There's plenty of time to think about it. Smiley

this looks like fun, and you are really tempting me... even though school is soo much work...
although at first glance it looks like the questionaire will be the most daunting task of this swap...  Wink
