I made this a while ago for a foreign language fair. Historically accurate (as allowed- I didn't use whalebone for the hoops), and an altered pattern. It's based on what Catherine of Aragon would've worn when she came to England (she was Henry VIII's first wife). The hoop skirt was a major pain, and I sewed one of the sleeves on upside down and didn't realise it till we got to the competition! My sewing machine died about a week before the competition, but my mom came through and exchanged it for me. I entered it in the state fair, and it won first place! w00t! anywho, on to the pics:

This shows the colour best.

The main dress is made of brocade and lined with silver satin. The hoopskirt is pink stain with purple velvet trim around the bottom. There's also a chemise made out of undyed muslin. I didn't use grommets for the neckline lacing; I used little rings from the jewelry section at the craft store, and handsewed them in.
