So, long-time lurker, first-time poster, I just HAD to share my super awesome, amazing looking dorm room wall with you all.

First, I should say that I was inspired by this post:

and headed to the stecilry site to get some inspiration, and heres the result:

Before (Sad, boring, lonely, empty wall):

After (Wall of awesome):

Im so happy with it! I think I might be adding some extra branches to the top of it to make it look less like it was cut out of a rectangular piece of fabric, but otherwise, I adore this.

At first, I was a bit too ambitious and decided to try and hang it up by myself. That was a big mistake.  When I would get the left side to stick, the right side would fall. Then Id try to fix the right side, and the left side would come atumbling down. After struggling for a long time, I called a couple friends over to help meit took three of us to get it up there and straighten it out.

Total time: 2 hours (this includes my stubborn moment of lone ambition)

Total cost: 3 dollars (YES!)

Ive already gotten heaps of requests to help out other people with their decorations! Its so great!

Anywaythanks for reading, let me know what you think!

WOW that was cheap.
I like it, it's a very unique look.

I was off to save the world....until I was distracted by something shiny.

That is awesome. I have been wanting to do wall decals like on blik, but they seemed so pricey. I will definitely give this a try in my newly organized craft room. Did you do anything special to the edges to keep them from fraying?

Thanks! Smiley

Actually, I didn't do anything to the edges to prevent fraying, and they did fray a little bit.  It wasn't a bunch, though, so after it all dried, and went in with a nail clipper and cut off the stringy-strings.  From any distance other than right up next to it, it looks pretty smooth. Heh, if anybody would have some fantastic tips on how to make it not fray, that would be fantastic. Smiley

Very cool...I never saw the original post, so I am glad you mentioned it, the starch tip is all woo woo! I know they have aerosol sprays that you can use to prevent fraying on fabric, but that would increase the cost by a few $$$. Not sure if it would interfere with the starch, but I would guess not...?
