OH MY GOSH izzy-guns, you did a fantastic job!

I have loved this dress since I saw it. No dress I've found so far has come up to scratch for my prom this year (I refuse to buy new, it's vintage or I make it myself). SO basically, I decided to make this my project. It's going to be tough, because the furthest I've gone in sewing have been replacing buttons, hemming, fixing seams, and embroidery. This forum (I just spent the last hour going through everything) is SO HELPFUL. I'm hoping to find the green or make it in a deep blue.

If I manage (which I hopefully will) I'll post pictures!!!

This looks like a great pattern with which to start something...

As far as the idea with the buttons go...

Oh, lookie that : )

Anywho... I'm adding myself to the enthusiastic hopefuls.  I always respected the dress on Keira, but didn't see the big deal about it.  The more I stared at it and researched the construction, the more in love I fell with it...
I'm determined to make it for prom.  Half a year to figure out this cursed pattern and funky fabric in the back.

Ha, challenge.

Oh wow!
I'm really happy someone else is looking for this pattern too, I am dying to make it as my prom dress. I spent aaaages trawling the internet with no such luck. But these patterns look really similar.
Thanks

This fabric in Emerald (I have my own piece here with me) is soooo close to the original color. I am giving up some drape for durability (and cost, only $5 a yard!) but it really is beautiful and quite close to the original. Thought I'd share with y'all!

Of course I could find help about this on craftster.  I actually googled the dress and saw the link to the images of the dress made.  Such lovely work could only come from such a lovely community.  You guys are the best.  Thanks for showing how this could be made.  I've got prom in a few months and now that I see how the draping in the back works, I'm much less intimidated by this.  It seems almost simple once I've got the right fabric.

Thanks again!

I found 6m of green sari silk in a charity shop... for 3 flipping pounds!!! (That's like, $4.50)

In exactly this shade!!! I'm not sure what pattern I'll use yet but it definately reminds me of the atonement dress every time I look at it.

Terrible night time picture - colour's really off
