So I was at TJ Maxx today and found this gourmet gingerbread house kit marked down from $25 to $2.50, and since I've never made a gingerbread house before (raised in a "holidays schmolidays" kind of family), I bought it. My problem is that the "Easy-To-Use Powdered Royal Icing" doesn't come with instructions! It looks to be about 2 cups of powder, maybe a little less. Do I just add water? How much? Egg whites?

I'm lost! Help me out, Craftsters!

I would add water very slowly, until you have a paste type consistency. I'm sure since that came in a kit you would not have to add egg whites.
Hope this helps!

How *hard* could it be?

making royal icing from scratch is pretty easy too.

the basic ratio is 1 egg white can hold 4X that amount in sugar, so if you have a mixer, throw in a few egg whites, whip them until they're a little frothy, and just start adding in icing sugar until it's the right consistancy and then whip for a few minutes until it's glossy....and honestly, i never out my sugar, i just go by eye
