Okay, I just started knitting not too long ago... and im just not the fastest learner in the world.
I really love all these projects that everyone is making, and i would love to learn, but quite frankly, there isnt the time avalible to me! SO, when christmas rolled around, and i decided i wanted to make sweaters for my three kitties, i went about looking for a pattern. First of all, they dont make cat sweaters for some reason... only dog sweaters... And second of all, most of the dog sweater patterns i found were really too complicated and time consuming than i could afford in my small window of time avalible. I gave up after a week of scouring the internet, and trying to learn new stitches- and came up with my own rectangle-knitter's pattern for a pet sweater.

Its very simple, the tutorial seems legnthy, but i think its just because im a wordy person.

The only things that make this complicated are the fitting. Because this isnt really a shaped sweater, you have to make sure that your fabric that you are knitting is very stretchy, so even if you arent making something that 'FITS' your cat, it will stretch and shift and move,to fit your cat

Please give it a shot, and tell me what you think!!!

(There is a comment about sleeves in the tutorial- being too long for cats with stumpy or short legs... The sweater i made has too long of sleeves for my dark-coloured cat, as you can see, but fits just right on my orange cat. )

I dont think so... Im in the process of making late-christmas-presents for all the people with cats i know. Everyone that has one has really liked it. My boyfriend thinks they are extremely cute onthe cats.

That is so adorable!  How on earth did you manage to get the sweaters on your cats?  My cat would kill me if I tried to put a sweater on him.  I put a bandana around his neck once and he went insane trying to get it off afterwards (he tried walking backwards, heh).  Anyhoo, I think it's good idea for people who have hairless cats.  They get cold really easily, of course, and cats deserve their own clothing instead of dog clothing.  I'm sort of rambling now, so awesome work with those sweaters Smiley.

They are both super cute!  Did the cats like wearing them?  I don't think mine would tolerate a sweater very well..

Well the orange cat you see there.... Hes a little fashion queen it turns out. He will sit patiently now, while i put the sweater on him, and he loves wearing it. He will just sit in the middle of the room where there are people- and pose for the camera. its too funy. He knows he looks good. My other cats dont like wearing it as much- but i think its because it doesnt fit them. They dont seem to mind it untill they try and walk, and because the legs are weird on them, they freak out. I think most cats will take to it okay as long as it fits, and isnt tight on any of their body.

Demented and awe-inspiring!  (But I mean that in the nicest possible way.  Really.)

I wouldn't have any skin left on my hands if I tried to dress my cats in clothes.  And explaining my injuries to the nice doctors at the emergency room would be too, too  humiliating...

Here's a burning question:  Do cats care if their sweaters are covered in cat hair?

I can't believe your cats will wear these. My kitties would have had them shreds in less than 5 minutes.
