My FH's brother is an amateur photographer, and I got the idea from another person's "courtship story." Here is my photo:

Cali- I definately don't mind. I was telling Zarafa earlier that I love when people take other people's stuff and alter it (that probably seems sarcastic but I promise, it's not)
and it was definately the right verse! Would you mind telling me how you did it?

the problem i ran into trying to make it blurry was the ring.  realistically, if the text is blurry or out of focus, then the ring should be out of focus as well.  so just blurring out the words and leaving the ring fairly well focused bothers my eye.

i tried using a focus vignette, which i think looks decent.  it also looks a little more natural because the focus fades out, but again doesn't really work if you want to keep the ring in focus.

I think the ring is a smidgen too blurry in that one, but I really like the concept & it's totally personal preference, of course!

maybe i'll tinker around with it some more and see if i can keep the same effect but lessen the blur just a bit over the ring.  this is a great topic, thekster... its just what i needed to help me procrastinate  Grin

Z - I really like that but I would like the ring a little less blurry.
I'm excited again cuz I saw a post someone else made for CD calendars for their bridesmaids, and now I'm messing with calendar stuff so I can use this as one of the pictures. EEEEE procrastination is the best - I was going to go to work today but havent haha
This is sorta on topic, but my fiance and I went to Galveston the other day and I took a picture of "Oct 29, 2008" drawn in the sand but ...Galveston is ugly. And even if it wasn't, I took the picture on my phone and can't get it off. So now I'm off to look for pretty beach/surf pictures for either me or my fiance to alter and put in either our date, names, or both into the sand.

third time's a charm... maybe?  same blur vignette then zoomed in and erased the blur over the ring.
