Hello fellow knitters!

Knitting is certainly a worthwhile activity in itself, but I have found that using your other senses (ie. listening) that you do not use while you knit can be an excellent opportunity for multitasking, and maximize the time that you have. and I know that many of you already do that, and I am hoping to join in, but I am not sure what all the options out there are, and what you guys do.

I am a university student so personally I had wanted to see if there are any sciency textbook material that you can listen to, rather than read Cool... but anything is good really. I know that many of you listen to audio books and the radio.

Please post freely as to what is your preferred activity to multitask while knitting! and if you listen to audio books, or the radio, what book? which station?

I also just thought this was an interesting topic to discuss amongst the many other knitters out there. So please join in!  Cheesy

(p.s. sorry, I don't know why I sound so nerdy sometimes when i'm writing up posts....must be something to do with trying to type up smart-sounding essays and such...)

I listen to my iPod a lot while knitting especially country and classic rock cause thats what I grew up with.  I will also sit in the kitchen knitting whil my mom is cooking and talk to her.  My roommate at school gets mad sometimes cause I will knit while we study for organic chem tests.  I would love it if I could get my chem text books on tape.  It would be great to be able to study while I knit.

Well, I tend to knit with my headphones in.
So, pretty much whatever is on my mp3 player.
Which is essentially death/speed metal...
Hoorah for knitting with Daath!

How awkward does THAT sound?  lol

While I'm on the metro I sometimes listen to music. I sometimes find myself saying "k, p, k, p" or whatever the pattern is to the beat. That or I just listen to people's conversations.
At home, if I'm knitting, the TV is on. Though I'm not looking at it, I listen.

then i start drooling looking at gibbs (tho he looks a right plonker with that tash, thats got to go), forget my knitting & wonder why i never get anything finished!

i dont tend to actively watch much telly because so much of it is garbage, so i like to knit with the telly as background noise

& as i tend towards my old punk / loud & fast music, i darent knit with it on!!

I do the same!!

If I listen to music I just end up looking down at my knitting and going slower.

I'm hungie!

I like listening to podcasts. There's a sermon audio on iTunes from The Village Church located in the DFW, Texas area. Otherwise, sometimes I'll pop in a movie, flip on the tv, or just let my music shuffle. It's good to knit with company, too, cause you can just chat and listen to people.

I love to listen to Aerosmith while knitting.  My favorite knitting song is "Dream On".  Sometimes I just put that one song on repeat and knit in time with the music.  I also knit while chatting on the phone.

I joined the Fabric Fast and pledged to buy no new yardage until July 1, 2008.

2008 Fabric Purchased: 56 yards

Fabric Sewn: 93 yards

Fabric Remaining: An Awful Lot

I am open to personal swaps!

Sometimes, when I don't feel like reading a certain book, or I am behind on one for school, i get one on tape and listen to it while i knit. It actually kind of helps, because i don't get bored with the book on tape, because I have something to do while I listen.
