Herding cats & chasing beads

I bought myself a little digital camera in the Boxing Day sales (saved about $60) and spent yesterday afternoon happily experimenting with ways to photograph my jewellery. I want to get my website completed and the online shopping part up and running by the end of January (right now my website is more of a static portfolio or brochure).

This is one of my Bead Bugs. I put him in an improvised light tent (a frosted glass cube shaped lamp from Ikea) with a spotlight each side. The I used the "super close up" setting on the camera, without a flash. I am pleased with how the photo turned out - no touch ups needed!

The pin is about 2" long overall. I make these with magnets too.

I can work my SLR like a champ, but I can't figure out any of my digital cameras.  They all look so...digital.  This looks marvelously photographed!  I guess I just need to use the micro setting and rig up some lighting.  Thanks for sharing!

Life isn't complete 'til you crochet a uterus for a friend.  Just make sure your fallopian tubes point down and not up! No one needs to lose an eye this way! Wink

I love personal swaps for small stuff (including Hershey Kisses!)! PM me for happy fun rockin' good times!

Adorable bug!  I make beaded spiders similar to these.  Yours is really nice!

I am an apologist for the spiders.

Just treat me no differently than you would the Tarantula Queen.
