A dear friend of mine got me hooked on knitting socks, but I have terrible gauge difficulties whenever I make wearables from patterns. The same dear friend passed along a solution - a generic sock pattern some lovely unknown fellow knitter in cyberspace developed. You just fill out some numbers on the worksheet and voila!


I just bought some beautiful Regia sock yarn that stripes up in blues and greens and browns. I can't wait to see how they turn out now that I am armed with this pattern. They might even fit someone with normal sized feet.  Shocked

Thanks for that ! But Kate Gilbert is rather well-known, she is the one who made the famous (or infamous) Clapotis.

IntrepidYarn: I'd never heard of her - but when I saw her website, I was terribly impressed.

My dark secret is that I've only just discovered Knitty within the past year.  Shocked  Have you knit up the Clapotis pattern? Thanks for pointing me toward it - I have some yarn in my stash in want of a project that I think might finally get some use!

Oh, I like this!  I keep starting socks and usually just finish one...
Maybe this will get me to try again. (I love filling out things, and this has stuff to fill out... Smiley )
