Here's what I made for my SIL (sister-in-law) this morning, for her Christmas gift. Pic is terrible.

The long feathers are hand dyed by me, a mulberry rose color. The red feathers are red with a gray stripe in the middle. The other feathers are india blue peacock. Feathers have great pair matching - but the angle makes everything look lopsided! Background is pale coral pink to give you an idea of what the color on these should look like.
This was my first attempt at wire wrapping because I could not find my base crimps to attach the jump rings to! So I attached a red jasper bead to separate the wire wrap from the jump ring and hook the feathers to the jump ring... it worked. Phew, last minute pinch hit there! I believe the black wire is Beadalon something or other.
She's a veggie, so I made sure all the feathers were naturally molted and not plucked, and made sure they were from critters not in factory or poor / mill-type situations.
At any rate these were not cheaply or quickly made, so I figured I'd share Smiley
I hope she likes 'em...

Those are really dramatic looking and will look great with a really simple dress, nice work! That's interesting that the feathers are 'animal-friendly'. Do you have to go/order somewhere special for that?

Really awesome! Especially considering you dyed and wrapped feathers yourself.

Thanks for the comments! I appreciate it.

No, there is no special place to buy cruelty-free pretty feathers.
Vet your vendors carefully is the best advice I can offer.

These feathers, I got from 3 different places. The actual least eco-friendly part of the craft is the metal, as metal's nonrenewable for a resource.

We just had Christmas Eve dinner and she announced she's now a casual veggie - and ate a steak. sigh! All my efforts to keep this super-clean / extra-friendly, are for naught... LOL. Hopefully she'll like it - we're about to do the gift thing early!

OK, we've had our wonderful Christmas, and she loved them.
She loved the color, the form, how they were large yet weightless, and that they were "exotic" and cruelty-free. She wore them all evening and refused to take them off until they went to bed (she and her hubby, my bro - are staying here for the night). There was a major hulabaloo over them... Smiley
She loves color, and is a MA (fine art) with a teaching degree, plus the veggie and style-maven thing, so - inherently very hard to please.
I could not have wished for a better outcome in a hundred years.
Merry Christmas to you all.
