Have you always wanted to learn a new craft, but just needed that kick in the behind to try something new?  Want to develop your crafting skills even further?  Getting tired of flakey swappers or paying for postage?  Then this is swap for you.

Each month will we will have a sponsored craft that we will work on together.  We will share our frustrations, tears, and excitement.  The best part?  You get to keep the crafts you make.

The purpose of the un-swap is to share tips and inspiration and create a tight-knit community of friendly craftsters.

To make my life easier, we are going to have quarterly sign ups.  This means, during a given quarter, you will complete 3 crafts.  The upcoming schedule is as follows:

February:  Altered Book Making
March:  Doll/Monster making
April:  Fun with Polymer Clay

The patterns you use are completely up to you.  If you are an "expert" in any given area, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!  You may earn a special place in your fellow craftsters heart by providing a tutorial.

"I solemnly swear to uphold my promise of completing said projects in the given month to the best of my ability.  I will maintain positive and encouraging to others, but most importantly myself.  I will post at least 1-2 times per month, updating others on my progress."

What I need from you:
Please send me your Craftster name and your email address.  If you have already signed up for the previous craftalong, just send me a pm letting me know you are crafting along.

Why should I sign up:
The purpose of the craftalong is to create a "smaller" tight-knit community of crafting friends to share a 3-6-9-12 month journey.

Can I sign up after the sign-up date is closed:
Please contact me.  I'm sure we can work something out!

Gluebelly-  The sign up is for 3 months.  If you can't commit to 3 months, send me an IM to let me know what months you can commit to.

i've been wanting to do an altered book for a while, and i did actually start one, but i've glued all my pages together and i'm too lazy to try to fix it just yet. meanwhile, i've been saving links for altered books, and i thought i'd share them. you might have already seen them, but you might not have.

inspiration and tutorials (if you join her yahoo group, you get access to her patterns and she only sends out periodic updates):

lots of links:

a couple of communities on livejournal all about altered books:

links on the definition of altered books, and where to learn more:

different paper art ideas but you might be able to use some of it in an altered book:

**EDIT** added a link

Thanks craftydame. I need some inspiration. I'm making mine for my husband. I figured that a love theme would be easy and fun.

What type of glue do you use for altered books. Do you seal everythin down with some kind of sealer? Any helpful tips would be great. I just ordered a bunch of cool stuff from sacredkitschstudio for this project. Yay for learning new things.
