I would like to make a lamp out of glass blocks for my teenage sons for Christmas this year.

Basically just an addition to the glass block light up "gifts" that I've seen.

I thought I would take 3 - 4 blocks and glue them together and drill a hole in the top 1 or 2 and insert lights.

Any suggestions, comments, etc?

Just make sure to use a new glass and tile drill bit and drill slowly and patiently, very slowly , spritz water on the drill bit and wear protective gloves, mask and eye goggles.   It is going to be really cool! And he will love it. You may think of using colored tissued paper for the inside to add cool difused light. Just a thought, you will have to make a huge hole but it can always be "filled in"  Love that silicon for glass. lol

Here's a good and helpful tutorial for making the glass blocks: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=140603.0
