Hey there!

I am starting a business in the Houston area that offers sewing classes, open craft studio time and fabric - inside the loop. It would more more Craft mag and less Jo Ann's Crafts.

My question for you guys:

1. Would you go to a place like this?

2. If so, what would you like to see offered?

3. What classes/programs would you like to see?

4. What would you feel a fair price for a one hour sewing class would be? One hour of sewing studio time?

Thank for your help - my goal is to make this (my baby) all about community, a place to meet like minded people and enjoy what you like to do - craft!  Grin

This is a fantastic idea! It is so nice to see other indie crafters are in the Houston area. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out! I live outside the loop (in the Clear Lake area) but it's not too far a drive into Houston!

That would be amazing!  Learning to sew is one of my current obsessions and I haven't found anywhere I feel comfortable.  I know there must be more of us Maker/Crafter types out there but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to connect in Houston.

I don't have any answers to your questions though :-(  I have no idea what a going price would/could be, and don't know enough about what I don't know to know what I need to know.
(That made total sense in my head.)

Hee hee hee - I know where you are coming from! It is hard to find a good place to teach you how to sew and answer your questions in normal language (plus sew stuff you actually want to boot)!

Email me at sew.awesome@gmail.com if you are interested in upcoming classes! I will keep you in the loop when they start Smiley

Hello! I'm in the Heights too.
I think it would be great to see something open up in the Heights again.

We were going to get a knitting club/class or something early last year on 19th but they never opened... and yarn 2 ewe moved from 19 to Shep. Dr.  And the bead store had to shut down because of deed restriction... so I think it's going to be exciting to see something to open up again.

I'd like to see some sewing classes and some that target things like different types of applique techniques, zippers, using that binding stuff (and how to use that tool to make it), patchwork, etc...

You came in from the darkness and held the door open wide
You stood there like a vision before my unbelieving eyes
I believe in what I see and also what I hear
But did the night play tricks on me or were you really there.

How's it going Heights neighbor! Thank you so much for your support - I feel the same way: we need a crafty place in the Heights!

If you are interested in being added to our mailing list, send me a private message with your email address and I'll add you. We will be sending out an invite for our grand opening in April.

Have a great night and thank you so much for your feedback!

Hello hello!!!

Would you go to a place like this?  Yeah!

2. If so, what would you like to see offered?

Um, advanced sewing stuff.  Tailoring, custom fitting, making swim suits, business suits, tough stuff!

3. What classes/programs would you like to see?

Besides what is above, jewelry making, printmaking, screenprinting.

4. What would you feel a fair price for a one hour sewing class would be? One hour of sewing studio time?

I honestly have no idea.  If it was for a real advanced class, maybe 40.00?
