Here is a dress made of two shades of blue crepe-backed satin (a fabric I choose because it is always on sale at Joann's).

The top of the bodice has a channel that the sash goes through so it can be more or less gathered.

It was my first attempt at making anything in an empire-waist/baby doll style and although I love the look (on others) I am still tinkering with making it work on me.

The buttons are faux-silver with a few little rhinestones for a little sparkle.   Grin

I've tried to make something similar and it didn't look nearly as beautiful as this! Looks wonderful!

Can you share a little information about the shaping of the top.  I am trying to whip up a tunic in the same shape but am having a little trouble getting the right shape.  Thanks.

And as always lovely work.

I'm loving the empire styling and the drawstring neckline.  It looks great on you.
