Pretty White Poncho

I love your ponchos.  You did a great job.  This is a great pattern, isn't it?!?   I'm working on one now made out of some leftover Paton's Katrina, which I hope I have enough of!  I'm making it to use as a nursing poncho.

No Problem!! Basically on the even number rounds you will be increasing stitches as the pattern reads,  and on the odd number rounds (3,5,7,9, etc.)  you just do a regular row of HDC without adding any stitches.  Keep asking questions, I don't mind and it's a good way to learn. 

Okay, thanks again. I need to finish up the scarf i'm making so I can get goin' on this pattern! I find myself crocheting like crazy because I want to take a stab at this poncho sooo bad!  I'll letcha know how it goes

i will!  :)i finished my scarf last night ( finally ) ..( i have to work kinda slow because I get alot of pain/numbness from crocheting? ~ anybody else get this?) ......  I'm going to start today on the poncho! yay!

Hi again JodyBoBodie... here's my poncho! i did it!!! I'm so excited



I didnt have a N hook as the pattern asks for so I used a P 11 1/2mm hook instead.  It is so soft and comfy! I am already starting a pink one for my (7 yr old) daughter.  But! get this.. I went and bought a N-hook for my daughter's poncho, and when I started the neck it wouldn't go over my head! It was too tight!!!    It wouldn't go over her's either?!  So luckily I had just started and I had to rip it out and start it over with the P-hook.  Did you use an N-hook for your ponchos??? Maybe me and my daughter have really big heads! LOL ... would it matter on the type of yarn used?  for her poncho i'm using Lionbrand's baby pink something.  I just used inexpensive Red Heart for mine?

Anyways.....thanks so much for helping me out!  It was actually easier than I anticipated.

Artzy - Your poncho turned out great!!  It is such an easy pattern and works up so fast!  And yes I used the N hook, but patterns are just a base to work from.  I alter patterns all the time to fit my needs.  I'm glad that worked out for you.  Great job!!!

Funnily enough I was just looking at this pattern and wondering about the end of the rows as well so thanks for asking the questions artzyfartsy as I was about to post exactly the same one! I haven't got my kit with me at work but do you mean that it kind of works like one large spiral?

Also what weight wool have you used in yours? I'm in the UK so I'm not sure about the weight of the brands that you mention. Is it Double Knit weight (Sport or Worsted)?

yeap, it works in one large spiral... & after like the 10th row or something like that ..it's REALLY easy because it's just half double crochets until the very last row!

are u wondering about my yarn or JodyBoBodie's?  I'm working on another one in an avocado green color. i cant wait to finish it!!!!!

Either/both really! I see that Lionbrand Homespun is "Bulky" which I think is the same as Aran or Chunky in UK shops but both of your ponchos look lighter than I imagine Chunky wool would crochet with a N hook....? I have this lush red mohair blend in a DK or Worsted weight that I'd like to find a use for you see! I guess I'll just have to give it a go and experiment! I seem to have a problem with sticking to patterns or gauges but the beauty of ponchos, scarves and throws etc is that this doesn't tend to matter .

Thanks for answering, I was sitting at work staring at the pattern trying to visualise how you could crochet in a round without joining the last stich at all and getting in a right mental mess. If only my job was to be crafty all day....!
