These are my first successful hats.  In the past they've either been "humongulas"  or too small.   I half followed a pattern and half BS it.  My son in the Rasta hat has way too much hair for anything in the stores to even try to accommodate.... wild curly  and past  his shoulders.  I'm surprised he actually tucked it all in there  Smiley    My other son loves brim caps, and aren't they always better made with love from Mama.  hahaha  Cheesy

Nice hats!  What a great mama you are!  You were even able to knit something they'll wear!

Great job!

Great job!  If you don't mind me asking, could you share the patterns? Smiley

For both Hats I used a 10 1/2 circular needles.  For the brim hat I casted on 78 stitches (why I'm not sure but it worked). Heres the link for the pattern I kinda followed. http://www.crazyauntpurl.com/archives/2005/06/easy_rollbrim_k_1.php
and combined it with brim instructions from Bustyyorneekaps https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=195040.0
For the Rasta hat... I casted 72 stitches....same 10 1/2 needles. Heres the link for the pattern http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_5312018,00.html I left out some of the fancy details because I was making it for my son... and he likes things plain and simple.    I do recommend putting elastic in the ribbing of this one.  I didn't think I needed it, but ended up putting it in afterwards.  I think it would have been much easier to have done it at the beginning. Smiley
