It's almost noon here in MI and no posts yet?

Anyway here is the yarn I posted last week and the hat I knit with this week.  DH loves it and rarely takes it off!

Yay!  Thanks for the thread-starting, and that hat is absolutely stunning.  WANT.  Smiley

Last Saturday some friends, Lufahsman, and myself had a big Craftstravaganza day where we got together and did a bunch of crafts, but a couple of us just focused my friend Terry's drumcarder, and we carded up a ton of batts.  Like, over 50 of them.  I got to keep these:

And then spun these out of them:

They're a total of almost 14 ounces, and around 250 yards.  Here's a close up:

These batts have all sorts of crazy different fibers in them, since we kind of pooled a lot of fiber together from our own stashes.  I had a big garbage bag full of weird short fibers and nubbly bits that have been leftover from my hackle, so we used a lot of that in there.  That was pretty cool, because we found a way to use what would have been a waste product.  The yarn is by no means smooth, it's soft but very textured, and I'm in the middle of weaving it into a wrap (hopefully I have enough yarn!).

I've got to take some pictures of a few FOs I've made out of handspun, so more later!  Can't wait to see everyone's yarns!

Great yarns this week so far. Lufah those batts are asking me to dive in and snuggle up. I think I may have to break out the drum carder when I get home. All the yarns I spun up this week were sold and sadly I didn't get pics (custom orders) I hope I'll have something for next week. My fiber stash is threatening to take over the house!

Can't concentrate!  Too busy drooling over batts!   Cool

So...that hat is fantastic.  Very manly colors going on there, isamax!

I just have one to contribute today.  I keep getting distracted with friends' birthdays.  They seriously need to stop.  I didn't realize the whole population of the world was born between the second and third weeks of November.

Grape Expectations.  Supersoft merino, 10 wpi, 191 yards, 3.8 oz.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's me with some yarn on my head.

I haven't posted here in ages! Well, I just wanted to show off a yarn I made recently that I'm really proud of.

I was getting ready to watch Marie Antoinette, and I asked my boyfriend to bring me something to spin from my stash, but to surprise me. He brought me some pink Corriedale dyed with Wiltons that he said reminded him of the movie. So I decided this was going to be my Marie Antoinette yarn. It's about 100 yards, plied with gold thread and bits of commercially spun yarn, and it's adorned with faux pearls, gold ribbons, and tiny cakes and shoes, which I made out of fimo clay. Here are the pictures!

every yarn is worthy of Fiber Friday!

Breeba, it looks fantastic!

When plying with thread, hold the thread tightly, and let the yarn wrap itself around it (like at a 90 degree angle), rather than trying to ply them together.
