Fabric is taking over my house!

I made this dress for my Employee Appreciation Dinner earlier this month. This is actually Amy Butler home decor fabric, but it's light enough for apparel. It was reeeeally hard to find the underlayer to match! I used Butterick 5026. Ignore the bra straps!

Unfortunately I had to finish it an hour before the dinner, and only at that point did I realize the bust was HUGE! Somehow I bought the pattern for 14/16/18/20 and the last dress I made that fit was size 10. I tried to make all my seam allowances extra big, but apparently it didn't work.

Since it was November and the dress was too big, I wore this sweater over it.

I'm going to take it in, but probably not until I wear it again.  I was scared to wear this to my work function because I thought it would be too loud of a print, but it was okay. Please let me know what you think! Thanks for looking!

It's cute and classy... I would only be nervous about wearing it if the function I was attending was super conservative. It looks great on you; from the pictures, I can't really even tell that it's big at all. You did a wonderful job, and I think you should definitely wear this more--it deserves to be seen.   Wink

It's beautiful! It's a crime to cover it up with that sweater! Oh well..  Hopefully when you get it fitting properly you can make a cute little shrug to go with it. Something this nice has to be shown off!
