When I first saw this lamp I knew I wanted to create my own.

So my grandma had a awesome green coffee urn that I got for free.  Then finally, this summer I created it into a lamp.

I bought a $10 lamp kit from the hardware store and added a lamp shade from Wal-Mart.

My dad helped me out with drilling holes in the lid and the back of the urn.  I didn't really want the cord to come out the valve so I did this instead.  My dad was really excited when I told him I was going to post it on Craftster.  He found this rubber thing at the hardware store to keep the metal from cutting/hurting the cord. So that was completely his idea.  He was really proud.  : )

Thanks for looking!

Awesome!!!  My husband is a coffee FREAK.  I must make this.  Not only would he be impressed by the coffee-ness of it, but by the fact that I made a working lamp.  Kudos to your dad for helping you be crafty.  Love it!!!

Way to go. I love lamps, and it's really cool that you got your dad into it.

Your lamp is cool! Ever since I first saw this project (about a year ago) I kept on the lookout for coffee urns.

Today at a rummage sale I found 2: both avocado green (my choice of colour, too, just like you!). One was a regular height and circumferance and the other was shorter and rounder around.

Someone snagged the tall one but the short one was left at the end of the sale day when everything became FREE!!! So I got a free avocado green coffee urn and can't wait to turn it into a lamp!
