If you're using rayon acetate you could get some cool stamps (maybe a skull or bats or even roses) and emboss the stocking, they would be so gorgeous.  That's what I wanted to do for my family until I saw the price of rayon acetate.  Instead I'm knitting some, black and white stripes for my son, black with white heel, toe and cuff for me.  For my husband the same as mine but red, and red and white stripes for my daughter.

For those of you who don't know about embossing velvet(rayon acetate) here's a quick explanation.

So cute! I want to make some stockings for everyone, too! Would be very cute with a beaded spider dangling from underneath the cuff and some spiderwebs drawn along the top.

It's very nice!
I'm making my first stocking right now, for a swap.
Christmas stockings are not a popular thing in Brazil.

I was thinking of making another one and using my mums embroidery machine and putting silver snowflakes on it ... not sure if it would look right though as they'd come out really small

You could make them to match the trim. Like if you made a stocking with purple trim, the snowflakes could match it. :]

Great Stocking,    I am going to have to keep that in mind for next year, Don't know why stockings slipped my mind this year, Maybe because I wasn't even going to put up a tee in the first place  because I was not in the Christmas Mood,  My Mother Dies Last Feb. and I didnt have any Christmas Spirit but decided She wouldn't have wanted me to not have a Tree considering Christmas was always such a big deal to her so I decided to compromise and remembering seeing a few Black Decurations at Wal-Mart last year opted for a BLACK TREE   and it actually turned out beautiful and very elegant I wish I had a Picture to share,   I couldnt find many Black ornaments as you can Imagine so taking a ue from the other "collections" decided  If Martha Can do it then So can I and with a Little Glitter (Black, Silver, Crystal, ) and a Glue Gun,some pretty papers. inexpensive glass balls (18 for $2.00) (double sided tape to het the glitter to stick to the glass balls with 1/2 the mess) and a few other Odds and Ends and Before I knew it I not only had a lovely Christmas Tree but while being creative actually got some of my Christmas Spirit back  Thanks Mom      ANYWAY  Again thanks for sharing and letting me Rant,  I am new here so Nice to meet everyone   Andy
