OK... so I had been searching and searching for a really cool chest or trunk.. then my mom found this one for me at a yard sale for $40.. it was  really old and icky lookin.. so i got to work....

BEFORE: Very yucky looking..


AFTER: Looks almost like a treasure chest!   (not quite closed all the way)

that is one cool restoration! I have that very trunk but mine is in good shape so I don't want to do anything to it at the moment but I'm bookmarking your post for the day when it comes! Nice work!

Thanks for the feedback Smiley .. all i really did was use some black glossy metal paint on the black parts and i left the wood its original color.. i just put some wood varnish on it.. thanks again
