Last thursday I had my wisdomtooth removed, and I didn't have to work. I was high on painkillers, but I had some time to attend to my dear poppet!
Finally fixed her hair (it was a bit crooked), finished her knit dress (I recently learned myself how to knit) and made her knit underwear. Nice and warm! Shoes are in the making: crochet, in some funcolored yarn.
When her shoes are done I will post more pics. For now just one:

She still doesn't have a name yet. I was thinking about 'Loes' (Dutch name, pronounced like Lucy without the y) or something. Def. a short name. Any ideas? Smiley

would think if you take a bat wing shape like so http://myhappyhalloween.com/images/bat-canevas.jpg place it on two pieces of felt, sew around it, clip curves REAL close, turn, then add fance stitching by adding a casing like this ( blue= fancy stitching red= place for wire)

and place a pipe cleaner where its purple, that would be a nice bat wing!

oh man, i almost finished my poppet head! i am doing an anime poppet and i had a brilliant idea on how to do it witha all fabric (the anime eyes) and safety eyes, but it didn't work so i am using clay and need it to dry. it might be mikan from gakuen alice (alice academy) or my personal character that i`ve drawn about five times but i dont know yet.
i tried the hair tutorial using taper and spent a half hour cleaning gunk off the needle. Maybe its the tape i used? Thank god for nail polish remover!

I used tape too, not doing that again.  he he

That wing looks so much like what was in my head.  Thank you for drawing it out for me cause now I really see it.  I really appreciate it!

About the hair wefting: If you have read later in the thread about it people stopped using tape for just the issues you all are having! I use tissue paper or nothing at all. I can just put the layers of yarn right through my machine with no problems. Tissue works well though just to have something under the yarn to feed through the machine. I've even used a paper towel!

I use regular notebook paper. I find the lines help me cut the pieces straight before adding the yarn (lol)

I've used tissue paper and love it because it's so easy to tear off when you're done!

Hi everyone ! I had already been on crafster some times (mostly looking at Geeky projects relayed by a retro-gaming craft blog), but only found out about Poppets a few days ago.
The next day, I signed up and PMed ghilie ^^ (which I'd like to thank some thousands times for this pattern by the way)
Anyway, have a patchwork WIP to finish before getting some fabric and starting, but will definitely be in !
I wonder how good Avatar's character Neytiri would look as a poppet ... ?
