So, I got the fabric, yarn, and all the goodies to make my first poppet (Thanks to Ghilie and Craftewoman!!!). My pattern is ironed on, and I'm hoping to start sewing today. =)   I'll post pictures when I have some.
PS  Kudos to everyone for your awesome poppets!...VERY impressive.

Its so much fun doing your first poppet, tip to remember - dont compare yourself to anyone else on here lol  Grin I was kind of gutted when I made my first one cos shes didnt look like Ghillies or Craftewomans or any of the other awesome poppets, but my darling other half pointed out that shes still pretty cool. Although hes not too sure about my minis  Grin I think he can see me getting addicted and putting them everywhere, and hes right. Im trying to work out how to make a warcraft one  Roll Eyes (he loves warcraft, I love to mock warcraft)

glitter it, no seriously, just add glue and glitter, no one will notice

Here's my naked Mrs. Lovett (see Sweeney Todd).  I love her!  I wanted her to bend at the knees and elbows, so I altered the pattern a little.  I also did the jointing on the outside because I wanted that type of look for this doll.  She's 140% of the original poppet size.

Now I just have to sew her clothes and her partner in crime, Mr. Sweeney Todd.  Grin  I'd also like to make her a little meat pie out of sculpey.

Mr.Todd and Mrs. Lovett will have their own post when they're done.

I post all my crafty stuff on Facebook.  I'd LOVE if you'd like my page!

Crafty.Canadian - I love your new poppet!  I've not seen the movie, but it totally looks like Helena Bonham Carter!  I love the extra jointing too!

I finally have had a chance to sew some proper undergarments for Maude.  Bloomers, corset, petticoat, and bustle all made in the past couple days since I finished finals.  The corset is based on the pattern from craftewoman, and the other garments are all my own patterns (mostly rectangles!).

Back - the corset back isn't finished yet because the grommet inserter I have won't go through all the layers of fabric.  I'm going to sew on the eye portions of some hooks and eyes, and lace it up that way.

The bustle snaps onto the back of the petticoat, so I can remove it easily -

Bloomers and corset:

How to get the bloomers to go over her giant feet:

Now, I've gotta go sew her a dress.  She's feeling a little naked (like a proper Victorian Lady would!).

Maude looks great.  I can't wait to see the dress when its finished.

What do you think about fleece? I saw some really fine stuff, maybe i should have got that, i find fleece easy to work with,I have never made something so small before. This chamois type stuff i got frayed a bit when sewing it,im definately going to have to get something else to use thats not so flimsy to work with.

I've only worked with fleece so far...  My suede is being saved for a klingon.  My only word of advice is to make sure that it isn't super stretchy.   While it is still possible to make a poppet with the super stretchy stuff, it isn't nearly as much fun!  The regular fleece came together very quickly.  I used the walking foot on my sewing machine to keep even tension and was very happy with the results.  Happy Crafting!

I'm all done with my poppet!  I need to make her some clothes, and do the needle sculpting, but she's beautiful!

THANK YOU THANK YOU GHILIE!!!!   You are the bestest!!!

I plan on doing some knitted garments for her and posting tutes/patterns.  I envision some legwarmers, a stripey vest, and various other funky things.

I'll take pictures and post them when she has clothes and I can go outside (it's raining).  I also don't have 10 posts yet, haha.  I've been lurking on Craftster for a few months now.  But now I'm all hooked and stuff.
