Yay, I finished my first poppet (except for eyes and hair).  I can't show her yet because she is for a swap.  When my swap partner receives, I will post her here.  Ghilie, this is an AWESOME pattern.  I just loved making her, and now my mom wants one too.  The only weirdness I encountered while sewing was that, when I went to stitch the toe guide shape, it was much larger than the feet I had made.  Still, it was a quick fix.  I just love this doll, I can't say that enough.  I can't wait to make a whole army of them.  Reminds me of my childhood:  my mom bought cabbage patch kid heads and made them by the dozen.  I had a TON of them, along with matching dresses for myself.

I've never had that problem with freezer paper.  As long as you keep your stitching set at 2.  The tiny stitches perforate the paper so it tears away nicely.

My sewing  machine doesn't have size 2.. unless you're using zigzag? *shrug* anyways... my first one is almost done! I'm sewing her hair on and then I'll post some pics. My baby girl keeps stealing her.... so it looks like I'll have to make a different one for her cousin. lol.

Well, maybe "size 2" is a misnomer.  What is meant by that is to keep the stitch length short, and the seams will be stronger and the paper will perforate enough to just tear off anyplace that you accidently stitched through the paper.

Visit http://ghilie.wordpress.com/ for the poppet pattern.

I've been missing this place. I was out of town, and the hotel's internet was non-existent (even though they advertised it). All the new poppets are looking soooo great!

I think everything that is thinking about joining should just give it a try. You won't know if you can do it unless you start. (o: I never thought I'd be able to do it, but I love my poppet and I'm already working on more.

My sewing machine only has two speeds-fast and really fast, so I'm always sewing through the pattern pieces, but they seem to pull off ok for me. I'm using some thicker thread though, so maybe that's why it doesn't break? I TRY not to go through the edges, but it can't be helped sometimes.

Ok, as mentioned earlier, here are the pics of my test hand.
Please excuse the crappy phone pics, can't find the camera. Also, ignore the fabric, bad stitching, fact it isn't stuffed and that it's just an arm.
Mainly, focus on the fingers and how great they are!

The hand itself (this will be a lot neater when my fabric finally arrives)
Peace man!
Rock on, fingers!

Sorry about the links, I can't post pics yet

I'm really looking forward to my fabric getting here, I'm in love with the pattern completely, mainly because its so versatile and easy to alter.

Thanks ghilie!

I actually find myself stitching in the paper on purpose.
Especially since I "liberated" a machine from my Gramma, and it sews on the left. Which is weird, since the needle position is supposed to be fixed. *Shrugs* I can compensate.
Showed my mom a poppet. She nearly mugged me for the pattern.
She's a doll maker from WAAAAYY back, so I don't think she'll have a problem.
I did make her promise to give me a picture so I can post it.
