I haven't made a baby quilt however about eight years ago I did make my parents a Christmas-themed table cover as my first-ever serious quilt-making effort (with major help from a quilting friend).  I put it in a cardboard box from a store as it was the perfect size and when they opened it they thought I had bought it from there.  I had to explain that I had made it for them and they seemed to appreciate it but I haven't seen it since.  I think it's still in the box in their closet.  So disappointing and I still think about it during the holidays.  I've even passive-aggressively brought it up at times and haven't really gotten a straight answer out of them.  So they either don't really like it or want to save it in pristine condition.  Can't be sure which.

My sister, on the other hand, has been hassling me for a quilted item ever since.  I've recently renewed my interest in quilting by purchasing my own sewing machine and she's reminded me again.  She's super crafty and even makes her own clothing so I'm sure she'd be really appreciative.  I'm just getting back into quilting and haven't even had my orientation on how to use my new sewing machine much less start a quilt for her!

Poetic justice! Poetic justice! My friend that I made the really tricky fish quilt for (she did have a say in the fabric, she said it was okay, and she picked the more complicated design rather than a simpler one) is taking a quilting class. Now all of a sudden she's saying "oh my goodness, I don't beleive you had quilted part of that" and "wow, I don't beleive how much work that quilt must have been". Heh, heh, heh.
