I bought a big gumball dispensing machine for $1 at a thrift shop
the mechanism doesnt seem to work and Im not sure how I could fix it
(the thing inside doesnt move to push things down the hole)

Is there anything I could use it for?
I dont want to rip it apart and make other things though

just any way I can make it dispense something?
still being able to use the spirally bit would be good too.

How cool!  Is it very big?  You could make a fish tank out of it!

You could make the lid part of it removable like any old jar and use it as a cookie or candy jar.

Oh, or you could set it up to be one of those auto-feeders if you have any pets who self-regulate on how much food they eat.

I'm not sure how to keep the spiraly thing working for you.

if you can get the spirally part to work properly why not just fill it up with some candy like M&M's or skittles?
I second the fish tank idea though. I use to have a gold fish tank that was made to look like a gumball machine and I always thought it'd be so much cooler if it was a real machine.

Yeah at the moment I taped up the hole and use it to hold lollies and people stick their hands in the top.

Im thinking of putting a table top on it for a quirky nightstand now  Grin

A lamp? Maybe fill it with fairy lights or LEDs? I'd love to see a photo of it.
