hello all....i am pretty new to quilting and still learning some things about sewing....so here is some pics of my 1st quilt top....i did get this idea from i think it was a quiltmaker past issue thing i found....the pics are not that great but here it is tell me what you think, and like i said i still have to do the backing and binding and all that crap...lol... oh and i am making this for my dad for christmas i tried to pick out some manly colors which was hard considering i am very girly....

and here is a closeup of the some of the fabric i used...

ok i am now just getting around to posting the completed pics...(been so busy working on other christmas gifts)...so here it is (im hiding behind it here)

i ended up doing different decorative stitches on the seamlines..

and i did a little embroidery on it to add something extra this is on all 4 corners

and this is in all the bigger rectangles throughout the quilt

and this shows the backing along with a little bit of the binding

i started out handsewing the binding on ( but i would prolly still be working on that...lol) but the i decided to just do decorative stitching on that too!!! and it turned out looking good (i think)

I like it a lot.
I love easy pattern in nice colours.
Maybe you want to try my kind of "curvy quilting", see
I think it's easier than straight lines, that often end up being not so straight...

Good work, keep on sewing!

Very nice! For some reason the pattern of the blocks and the colors reminded me of legos, which made it all the better. I'm sure your Da will love it, great job!
