I saw the film A Series of Unfortunate Events yesterday and decided i had to have Violets dress.  I want to make it myself but I can't find any good pics online that show the dress really well.  Any help?

This is kinda crazy, I also watched the movie yesterday and I love her dress(minus the sleeves(the big puffy part anyways(I like the mesh part))).

Oh, good, I'm not the only one!  I saw the movie last week (yay for connections!) when I took a younger cousin, and I loved it!  Well, more specifically, I loved the costumes and the houses/scenery/sets enough to want to see it again, regardless of plot/acting.  Violet's dress was beautiful!  But when I saw the coat that Sunny was wearing, I hauled ass to get my sketchbook out and draw it.  Anybody got any ideas on copying that in a larger size?  Or have an references to other movies/etc. with a similar style?

Mmmmm....visually inspiring movies...

I, too, obsessed over her dress during the movie. Odd though, she wears the same dress throughout the movie, yet the children carry a suitcase with them, which i assume would be full of clothes. Hm.
Although the storyline was stunning, i just kept on staring, trying to work out whcih layers were where, and how certain parts had been made.
Also, her hair is enchanting/somewhat unusual.

I love Violet's dress, too! I just started reading the books and saw the movie on Saturday. Here are some great reference photos:

I also really like her blue winter coat. It looks very 'Marc Jacobs-y'.

Oh, just saw today w/2 nieces & 2 nephews... Love the movie-- I want Violet's dress & Sunny's coat!!! There's a post here about making a mantle-- I think Sunny's coat is a full-length mantle. I'm sure there's specific terminology, but I don't know it...
Might have more luck looking for LOTR pattern for Liv Tyler's cloak. Ooo-- Cloak, I bet that's the term! Man, I feel smart now:)
I also want a window like Aunt Josephine's, but I think that's a whole other forum...

Oh my! The cloak that Sunny wears is so lovely. I wish I was as fashionable a child, but unfortunately I grew up in the 80's and my past is full of spandex and neon.
